These easy to follow, step by step, comprehensive instructions with detailed pattern take you through the process of making a beautiful, button jointed, articulated Rag Doll .

Not only jointed at the shoulders and hips, but her elbows and knees too, making her easily poseable and great for creative, imaginative play!

Each and every step is explained in text and images. We've included stitch tuition, green tips, glossary and layouts.

To make this rag doll, you will need:-


.    130cm/52” wide x 35cm/14” deep pre shrunk calico (or other fabric)


.    100g/4oz wool for a full head of hair (we used a double knit)


.    A small crochet hook or bent wire for attaching the full head of hair


.    50g/1.8oz wool for simple hair (we used seriously chunky)


.    12 x 15mm/0.6” buttons for jointing limbs


.    2 x 45mm/1.8” buttons for jointing the head (or a safety/cotterpin joint)

.    350cm/140” cotton perle or stranded cotton for jointing

.    250g/9oz stuffing (polyfibre, kapok or cotton work well)

.    1 x pair each fabric and paper scissors. Tailor’s chalk or a pencil

.    Matching thread, general purpose sewing needle and pins

.    For the face, good quality acrylic paints (for painted face) or 80cm/32” cotton perle

or floss for mouth (deep pink is good)

.    1 pair x 10mm/0.4” glass eyes  

 

With very little adjustment, this collectable Rag Doll will also make a delightful gift for a child. Please be very aware of the hazards caused by small parts, such as glass eyes and buttons and amend the pattern if necessary. We also recommend that you overstitch seams to ensure that your Rag Doll will be ready for a lifetime of play.
